When opposing forces meet, something new surfaces at the seam. I split this vessel open and put it back together - dark metallic glaze against pale crystalline white, smooth against raw. Around the openings, a rough crater-like texture emerges like cooling magma, a trace of the intensity the form carries within. Designed for ikebana, it gives cut branches a place to rest inside that tension - where one half exists only because the other does.
