There’s a German saying, das Leben ist kein Ponyhof: life is no pony farm, it isn’t always easy. This vase was the exception. I glazed it without a plan, layering one glaze over the next and painting freely, just to see what would happen. Cobalt and black run down from the neck in long drips, over pale yellow, mustard speckles and a foamy white texture that rose up in the kiln. Sometimes life is a pony farm after all.
